How can I become a hospice volunteer?

Hospices help extremely vulnerable people through a difficult and often frightening time. For this reason, hospice members of the Hospice Association of Ontario require, at a minimum, that their volunteers undergo a standardized 30-hour volunteer training course and a police check. Individual hospices may also conduct a reference check and a driver’s abstract.
Hospices need volunteers for a variety of functions, for example, fundraising, client transportation, friendly visiting, and office administration. To find a hospice in your community, click on the Programs and Services button and type in the name of your city/town in the Search cell. If unsuccessful, try typing in the name of a larger community close by.
